ADEQUAN

  • Adequan Canine is a polysulfated glycosaminoglycan (PSGSG) that is the only FDA-approved disease-modifying osteoarthritis drub (DMOAD) for use in dogs. Its relatively low molecular weight allows PSGAS to move from the bloodstream through the synovial membrane and into the synovial fluid.
  • It can slow the disease cycle of noninfectious arthritis and supports the cartilage matrix repair process while diminishing joint damage.
  • When injected intramuscularly, Adequan Canine reaches the joint within 2 hours and lasts for 72 hours. Intramuscular administration allows delivery of high levels of GAGs to synovial joints by avoiding the digestive enzymes of the gastrointestinal tract. It helps keep joints lubricated and makes movement easier.
  • At the recommended dose, the product has been well tolerated, and its safety has been consistently demonstrated. Adverse reactions are rare, mild, and transient.
  • To achieve maximum benefits, the recommended dose is given twice weekly for up to 4 weeks.
