CORNEAL LESIONS
The most common corneal problems are abrasions and ulcers. Unless severe they are almost invisible to the naked eye and require special staining to identify.
Most respond well to treatment but anytime the corneal epithelium has been disrupted there is the potential for things to deteriorate rapidly. If you notice squinting, rubbing, redness or significant discharge, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Don’t wait—an abrasion or small ulcer is much easier to treat than a perforated cornea.
