Ectropion is the sagging of the lower lid. It is a breed characteristic in cocker spaniels, bloodhounds, Newfoundlands, and many other breeds. Because the lid does not maintain normal contact with the eye there is inefficient wetting and cleaning of the cornea. This can result in irritation, infection or keratoconjunctivitis sicca symptoms.

The problem is treated by surgically correction.
