Trailridge Pet Hospital has a friendly, experienced staff...
Please enjoy the following biographies and pictures of the Trailridge Pet Hospital staff--and their pets!

Dr. Dan E. Cram
I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1967. I moved to Kansas City in 1967, following the woman I wanted to marry, and have been here ever since. I’m a past president of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.

We have two children. My son, Tyson and his wife, Allison, live in Overland Park and our daughter, Amanda, and her husband, David, live in Eugene, Oregon.

We currently have two cats, Mingus and Django, named after two of my favorite musicians.

My interests are reading, music and outdoor activities (bike riding, hiking, etc.). My most recent adventures have been ice climbing in Colorado, climbing Mt. St. Helens and doing a Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hike.

Dr. Paige Massen
I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997. I have been practicing in the Kansas City area since that time.

My husband, Shane, and I have two children. Our son, Miles, is five and growing up too fast. Our daughter, Ava, is two and is always on the go! We also have a chocolate Lab, Chevy, who is definitely the best behaved of the group!

I am excited about joining the group at Trailridge in helping to keep your pets happy and healthy.

Jan, B.A., R.V.T.
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician which means on any given day you might find me doing nursing tasks such as administering medications and treatments, taking x-rays, prepping animals for surgery, assisting during surgery, monitoring patients post-surgery, performing dental prophies, drawing blood or obtaining other specimens for lab tests, running lab tests, doing client education, researching information for our website or carrying out any number of other tasks. The most important part of my job can be spending some quiet time with a patient who is sick or in pain or anxious – ear scratching and little chats can often be the best medicine. I also collaborate with Lilly on her column.

I have worked with Dr. Cram since 1989, but because I spend much of my time with your pets in our treatment area or kennel, I am more likely to recognize your furry friend than I am you. So please forgive me if I have to ask you your name.

To relax, I enjoy reading an eclectic mix of books, dabbling at knitting and beadwork, and flower gardening/landscaping. I’m still trying to figure out how to give up sleeping so I can have time to tackle my list of other interests I’d like to explore.

I have 2 cats that were part of a litter I found in my yard in April, 2007. They were about 4 weeks old and it has been a delight watching them grow up. Boris and Melvin, or The Boys to those who can’t tell them apart, do a good job of making me laugh regularly.

Alisha
I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2003 with a B.S. in Psychology. I worked in the social work field for a few years, but eventually learned that I was not suited for it. After living in the crazy city of Austin, Texas for a while, I moved back to the Kansas City area and a year later began working here at Trailridge Pet Hospital. My husband and I currently live in Prairie Village with our cat, George Catstanza and our Dachshund, Betty. When we are not working, you can typically find us in the midst of a home remodeling project, or in our down-time we enjoy playing old Nintendo games and going out with friends.

Diane
I re-joined the staff of Trailridge Pet Hospital in spring, 2008 as a part time receptionist. I actually worked here several years ago, and am looking forward to again seeing clients and patients from the past and greeting our new clients. My husband and I have lived in Johnson County all of our adult lives, mostly in Shawnee. Dr. Cram has been our family veterinarian since the 1970’s.

I have two adult daughters; both live the San Francisco area. My oldest daughter Heidi and her husband Jon just became parents, so I am a new grandmother of a beautiful baby girl. My daughter Holly has made a career with a major airline in the Bay area.

In my spare time I enjoy taking long walks, traveling to the coast, sewing for my new grandbaby, crocheting, and reading. I recently learned to play golf, and I enjoy meeting with my friends for socializing and playing golf…in the order.

I have two dogs, Lucy and Cookie. They keep our house busy and happy. I am always aware if someone is driving by or walking down our street. Lucy and Cookie are truly our children… with fur.

Our ward attendants spend much of their time caring for your pets during their stay with us. They are responsible for keeping our guests clean, comfortable, and well fed. Of course, their favorite part of the job is getting the pets out for exercise and playtime. You will also find them helping us with appointments and treatments. They are true animal lovers!
Lilly
My name is Lilly. I was a streetwalker in my younger days, headed down the road to ruin, when I was taken in by the people at Trailridge Pet Hospital who turned my life around. I have since worked my way up to boss although I often have a hard time getting my subordinates to understand this.

I am also the head of hospital security. As such, I may find it necessary to inspect your belongings and oversee your transactions at the front desk.

When I’m not napping I can be found walking on computer keyboards, digging though employees' personal effects or exploring other ways to harass my work mates. (I am a cat, you know.) In my spare time I write my advice column. Check out Ask Lilly on the home page.
